"Pour l'Instant" is a 1901 law association of photographers and photography lovers which numbers about 30 members.

All year long, in spite of the summer residence, the association organizes workshops on shooting and black and white as well as numeric printing.
Such workshops take place during a weekend and are supervised by members of the association who are either professionals or well-trained amateurs in their technical or artistic fields.
These workshops are open to beginners or advanced learners. If you are interested, contact us for registration, dates and places.

1989
The first multidisciplinary artistic meeting called "l'Europe d'Art d'Art" took place in Niort in 1989. During five days, a group of photographers supervised the organization of the photo shop , advised the young artists and organized an exhibition of the works of art produced by the young European photographers during this period of time. This summer event took place during five years, from 1989 to 1993.

1994
In 1994, the "Pour l'instant" association was created and the first "Summer Residence" took place. The members of the association who are all voluntary people, are deeply involved in photography as a mean of artistic expression and through their support they participate in its promotion and development.

In order to be efficient, the association focuses on four main points:

1- Creation: This is the main goal that the association wanted to focus on thanks to this idea of hosting photographers. Creation also means for "Pour l'instant" creation of projects and support to local initiatives.(logistic, connections with photographers)

2- Diffusion: through exhibitions.

3- Teaching: in order to learn how to look. It takes place during special sessions (training courses, debates, speeches in schools…) but also during organized meetings with photographers.

4- The setting-up of a patrimony: portfolios created during the "Summer Residences". A unique heritage of more than 500 pictures: testimonies of young creators' artistic experiences. This collection gathers photos of great variety created during each "Summer Residence": argentic or digital printings, colour or black and white pictures, reports, portraits, landscapes, plastic approaches, social or ethnographic points of view, etc… These pictures collected with the passing years all bear signs of experimentations, hazards, and exchanges. They all have something in common: they were all urgently realized in Niort in an inspired state of mind. As a common directive, photographers had always been given carte blanche.
